The Importance of the Environment – Geography Series by Australian Geographic

This resource introduces students to how vegetation sustains environments. It also discusses how people can connect to their environments, shelters and habitats. You can find many different types of environments around the world, from forest and grassland to savannah and desert. Each of these contains a unique combination of climate and vegetation.

Students will explore:

  • the many roles of vegetation
  • producing resources
  • providing habitat
  • preventing erosion.

They will also discover the importance of protecting environments and the role of systems like the National Reserve of Australia.
