Successful English 6B includes exercises for comprehension, grammar and creative writing.
Grammar, comprehension and creative writing will be alternated. The work is presented in small increments that allows the child to absorb the concept. The work becomes harder as the child progresses through the book.
The book builds on grammar learnt in earlier Successful English titles covering: parts of a sentence (subject, predicate, object), conjunctions, sentence structures (simple, compound, complex), verbs (irregular, transitive, intransitive), adverbs, and punctuation.
Writing focuses on more specific text types: explanations, and complex instructions.
This book also includes dictionary skills, note taking, using multi-media, using the internet, reading a weather map, and analysing literature and poetry.
A revision section at the back of the book will allow you to gauge whether or not your child has mastered the concepts. You can also use Test Your English 6 (no. 550) to determine if your child is ready to move onto Successful English 7A and 7B.
Although this book appears much harder than the average grade 6 book, children who have already completed earlier books of the Successful English series should have no trouble with it.
