Spectrum tubes are a great way for students to investigate the properties of gases, as they can see the differences. This handy set of spectrum tubes helps students to gain a thorough understanding of the properties of gases, and different elements.
Spectrum tubes are small glass vessels which are fully sealed, and each filled with a specific gas. Electrodes are added to the ends of the tubes so that when electricity is passed through the tube, it excites the molecules of the gas, which causes them to emit a light.
Different elements will produce a different light spectrum: Argon produces a purplish light, while hydrogen creates a redder light.
 
 
Please note that a power supply is required for this set of spectrum tubes to be used.
