The Science Literacy Bundle 2 consists of eight (8) readers with Lexile scores 370L-430L. Reading Level Grade 2.
In Sponges, young readers learn Sponges live in oceans and fresh water. Some look like plants, but sponges are animals because they are made of animal cells. They are soft-bodied, vary in size from small to very big, and come in different colors and shapes. Cells, atoms, and molecules are described.
In What is Physics?, young readers learn that physicists ask lots of questions about how the world works. How fast can a kid run? What happens when a ball is thrown? Why does popcorn pop? How can birds and planes fly?
What is Exercise Science?: Young readers are introduced to exercise science, which studies how the body works to perform different tasks such as jumping, running, climbing, and lifting heavy things. Kids explore how the body works, how exercise changes the body, and how the body uses food.
What is Chemistry introduces young students to chemistry with this simply written, colorful reader. Students learn that chemists are scientists who study what the world is made of.
In Baseballs, Hockey Pucks, and Busy Ants, young readers are introduced to the scientific concept of linear motion. Physics defines any object moving in a straight line as having linear motion. Objects such as hockey pucks, baseballs, bicycles, ants, snails, horses, and people all have linear motion when they are moving in a straight line.
In Energy, young readers are introduced to energy—a basic concept in physics. Energy is what is needed to do work, which occurs when a force moves an object. Force is any action that changes the location, shape, or speed of an object. Food gives the body the energy it needs to do work. Energy comes in many forms.
In Proteins, young readers are introduced to proteins. A protein is a polymer—a long chain of atoms and molecules linked together. Protein polymers fold into different shapes, including coils and sheets. These shapes allow proteins to behave like tiny machines that do most of the jobs inside the body.
Frogs & Toads are animals that live on land and in water. Life starts as eggs that hatch into tadpoles that become adults. Frogs have long legs and smooth skin. Toads have shorter legs and bumpy skin, and adult toads live only on land.
A great way to introduce young readers to real science vocabulary and concepts. Our Science Literacy Bundle 2 consists of eight (8) Lexile-scored readers between 370L – 430L. Reading Level Grade 2.
