Use this real, working stethoscope to listen to the sound of a beating heart! Students can use these stethoscopes to play and develop skills of doctors or vets, while learning how their heart and lungs really work.
The stethoscope is a device to be able to listen to the internal sounds of an animal or human body. Let students discover the sounds of their own body by listening to the beat of their hearts and the sounds their lungs make while they inhale or exhale. Simply put the ear pieces in your ears and place the chest piece where the heart and/or lungs located.
Let students compare their resting heart rate with their heart rate after sprinting up and down the schoolyard. How long does it take to get back to the original speed of their heartbeat? What do the lungs sound like when breathing fast, vs. breathing slow?Students can also compare each others heart rates. Does everyone have the same heart rate?
