Hot Plate Thermostat, general purpose laboratory hot plate, 240V AC. 600 watts. Rectangular 200x180mm area, with high temperature alloy plate for even plate temperature.

’Thermostat’ temperature control provides heat adjustment from 50 to 320C and the plate maintains the set temperature. This model has PTFE (Teflon) coated plate.
 
NOTE: For general boiling of water etc. to overcome heat losses, it is necessary for the plate to achieve maximum temperature of about 450C, therefore the ‘Simmerstat’ control model is recommended for this purpose.

Simmerstat model: Maximum plate surface temperature 420C. with small load and with heat control on ‘FULL’. Heat adjustable from 0-10 on scale.
Thermostat model: 320C as the maximum position on thermostat control knob.
 
NOTE: Because the Thermostat model is limited for maximum temperature, it is not suitable for boiling large volumes of water.

NOTE for safety testers: The hot plate element is the ‘tubular sheathed type’. The insulation resistance of a sheathed element must exceed 10,000 ohms to earth. Refer AS/NZS 3000:2000 Para 1.11.2.3
