Chemistry Reader Bundle includes twelve (12) books

What is Chemistry introduces young students to chemistry with this simply written, colorful reader. Students learn that chemists are scientists who study what the world is made of.

In Acids and Bases, young readers learn that acids and bases have different properties because they are made of different molecules. Acids have an “H” group in their molecules and bases have an “OH” group.

In Atoms, young children discover atoms, a basic concept in chemistry. Atoms are like building blocks that makeup everything we touch, taste, smell, or see.

In Atoms and Molecules Meet, young children are introduced to the science of chemical reactions– when atoms and molecules bond to make more molecules, or molecules break apart.

In DNA, young readers are introduced to DNA, a polymer made of two long strands of atoms and molecules linked together and wrapped around each other in a double helix shape. DNA is found inside cells and creates a genetic code that determines many of the characteristics of a living thing.

In French Fries and Fizzy Pop, young readers learn the chemistry of taste. Atoms makeup everything we touch, taste, smell, and see. Atoms link to make molecules. Molecules cause different foods to have different flavors, such as sweet, sour, salty, and bitter.

In Heat, young readers are introduced to the concept of heat. Heat is a form of energy and is caused by the movement of atoms and molecules. The faster they move the more heat is created. Heat changes water from ice to liquid to steam. Atoms and molecules are described.

In Marshmallows, Mud Pies, and Messy Rooms, young readers learn the chemistry of mixtures: any two or more things mixed together—large things to molecules. Mixtures can be separated by hand or with tools, including filtration, evaporation, and paper chromatography.

In Molecules, young children explore molecules, a basic concept in chemistry. Everything is made of atoms that join together, using linking electrons to make molecules.

In Proteins, young readers are introduced to proteins. A protein is a polymer—a long chain of atoms and molecules linked together. Protein polymers fold into different shapes, including coils and sheets. These shapes allow proteins to behave like tiny machines that do most of the jobs inside the body.

In Rubber Rain Boots and Plastic Pink Flamingos, young readers are introduced to polymers. A polymer is a molecule made of many repeating units.

In Solids, Liquids and Gases, young readers are introduced to the states of matter. Water exists as a solid (ice), a liquid, or a gas (water vapor) depending on how much energy the water molecules have. Energy and molecules are explained.
